Inspections
Light stations and Light Keeper’s houses were subject to inspection by the Superintendent of Lighthouses. The Superintendent’s flag flying on the approaching Lighthouse Service vessel was sometimes the first notice that the Superintendent was onboard and an inspection was imminent.
Lighthouse Service lightships and lighthouse tenders flew this United States Lighthouse Service flag pennant.
Above the staircase in the 1905 Keeper's House is a Superintendent of Lighthouses flag.
