Exhibit Fundraising Campaign

The Presque Isle Township Museum Society is dedicated to preserving and celebrating the history of our beloved region, and we need your help to continue our mission! With your generous donation, you can contribute to the development of exciting new exhibits in the historic 1905 Keeper’s House.

These exhibits will offer visitors a deeper understanding of our local heritage and provide opportunities to experience history in an immersive way. While we have limited exhibit space, we are exploring ways to feature more of Presque Isle’s rich history.

By donating to the Presque Isle Township Museum Society, you are not only supporting these engaging exhibits but also ensuring that the 1905 Keeper’s House remains a valuable educational resource for years to come. Your contribution, no matter the size, makes a meaningful difference in preserving our heritage and sharing it with future generations. Please consider donating today to help us bring these exhibits to life.

Earlier this year, Robert McGreevy, Great Lakes historian and marine artist, donated pieces of his artwork to the Museum Society to aid our fundraising efforts.

Through January 31, 2025, for a $100 donation toward the Exhibit Campaign, we are offering artist-signed, Robert McGreevy, commemorative postcards (8” x 4.5”) of two Great Lakes ships, attractively displayed in a 12” x 9.5” wooden frame, as well as a $25 individual membership for the Museum Society’s 2025 season.

You may print and complete this form to send your donation, payable to Presque Isle Township Museum Society, to:    Presque Isle Township Museum Society, PO Box 208, Presque Isle, MI 49777

We thank you for your support!

S.T. Crapo Lifeboat Restoration (2024)

Over the years, weather has taken its toll on the Lifeboat. The metal hull is in good condition, but the wood seats, gunwales, floorboards, rudder and other fittings are now deteriorated.

Restoration of the S.T. Crapo lifeboat began in mid-September 2024 and is being made possible by the time and talent of our volunteers and the following businesses:

Donations to the restoration of the lifeboat may be made by mailing a check, made payable to the Presque Isle Township Museum Society with "Crapo Restoration" on the memo line, to the Presque Isle Township Museum Society, P.O. Box 208, Presque Isle, MI  49777,

PITMS is a 501(c)(3) organization and is recognized as a not-for-profit corporation under the laws of the State of Michigan.  Your gift to the restoration can be in honor or in memory of a friend or loved one.

Corporate Donation Matching

Employee match programs are a benefit that many companies offer to encourage and reward giving among their staff.  The employer will match an employee’s gift to a charity one-to-one.  Please contact us if your employer participates in this type of program and we will be happy to take any necessary steps to work with you and your employer. As an example, we are currently registered with Benevity.

Presque Isle Lighthouses Restoration Fund

Our historic lighthouses symbolize our rich maritime history and attract visitors from around the country. Owned and operated by the Township, these historic beacons have weathered many winters, but they also require significant resources to keep them standing proud.

In 2018, Presque Isle Township Museum Society (PITMS) and Presque Isle Township established the Presque Isle Lighthouses Restoration Fund to support the care and preservation of our Old and New Lighthouses and related buildings. The fund, administered by the Community Foundation for Northeast Michigan (CFNEM), supports the Township’s efforts to restore the Old and New Lighthouses and related buildings.

Presque Isle Lighthouses Restoration Fund donations are accepted throughout the year. Should you like to contribute directly to the Presque Isle Lighthouses Restoration Fund you may do so by going to the Community Foundation for Northeastern Michigan at http://bit.ly/savepilights or mailing your check to PITMS, PO Box 208, Presque Isle, MI 49777.
