Support

There are so many ways you can support the Presque Isle Lighthouses! Visit us when you’re in the area, shop in our charming gift shop, climb the towers, have a picnic, hike our trails. Attend one of our community events or concerts and step back in time as you tour the 1905 Keeper’s House.

Other than a nominal fee to climb the lighthouse towers, admission is free. Donations are greatly appreciated. For lasting support, consider becoming a member of the Presque Isle Township Museum Society (Become a Member or Donate) or Volunteer as a Keeper in the 1905 House!

Own a Fine Art Print of Presque Isle's New Lighthouse

A gifted local artist, Janet Hainstock Straley, has found a unique way to support our lighthouse restoration efforts. Janet has a family connection to the Presque Isle Lighthouses, as she is the great-great-granddaughter of Patrick Garrity, Sr., who served as the lightkeeper of both the Old and New Presque Isle Lighthouses. She has created a stunning “portrait” of the New Presque Isle Lighthouse. Giclée prints (high quality prints that are lightfast and will retain their color for over 100 years) are available for sale through the artist. In turn, Janet donates 10% from each print sold to the Lighthouses Restoration Fund.

Janet Straley’s print, Out of the Woods 1870–New Light Presque Isle, is available in three sizes:

6”x12” = $40.00

10”x20” = $60.00

15”x30” = $90.00

These are limited edition prints, signed and numbered by the artist. Only 100 prints were made for the edition. Shipping is added, although local delivery (Alpena & Grand Lake area) is free.

Presque Isle Lighthouses Restoration Fund

In 2018, in partnership with Presque Isle Township we established the Presque Isle Lighthouses Restoration Fund at the Community Foundation for Northeastern Michigan. Funds from the Restoration Fund are used for restoration of the lighthouses and the 1905 Keeper's House.

On GivingTuesday (November 27, 2018), the initial fund of $15,000 was increased by $3,300 through gifts from generous donors. If you were among them, we thank you! In 2020 and 2021, donations on GivingTuesday increased the funds to over $46,232. Replacement of the cracked bricks and repairs to the window lintels in the New Lighthouse tower were completed in October 2022. Funds for the repair were drawn from the Lighthouses Restoration Fund, the Lighthouse Gift Shop Committee Fund, and the Township’s Facilities Budget.

We invite you to support our efforts to preserve our landmarks and cultural treasures. Donations can be made directly at Presque Isle Lighthouses Restoration Fund.
